Event Moderator – Teri Slavik-Tsuyuki, Principal, tst ink LLC
Teri has spent her career bringing to life some of the most valued and recognized brands in community and resort development. A fast-thinking, passionate senior marketing professional, she is a sought-after, engaging speaker, facilitator and published writer. Her company, tst ink, llc (www.tst-ink.com) works with community developers to create places and brands customers connect with and experiences that matter.
Teri moved to the United States from her native Canada in 2005 and spent a decade as the Chief Marketing Officer for Newland Communities, where she was the architect of the Newland brand in more than 40 communities across 14 states. During her tenure at Newland the company had the #1-selling community in the nation and five in the top 15, three years in a row.
Teri believes what matters most is how people relate, connect, explore new ideas, and share different perspectives. She was named one of the “most influential women in homebuilding” by BUILDER Magazine in 2016 and is a 2015 inductee into the William S. Marvin Hall of Fame for
Design Excellence, the second woman ever to earn this honor. Teri writes monthly for the National Association of Home Builders’ Best in American Living blog, focused on consumer
insights, brand experience design and community development.
She holds a BA (Communications, Sociology) from Simon Fraser University, studied Journalism at Carleton University, and will complete her Masters in Integrated Marketing Communication
(Honors) at Northwestern University in Spring 2019. She serves as Assistant Chair of Urban Land Institute’s Residential Neighborhood Development Council, and a member of the advisory
board for Garman Homes.
Laurie Ford, Founder & CEO of Ford Revelations
Laurie has operated as Founder and CEO of Ford Revelations, Inc. for over 11 years where she leads teams to develop mixed-use communities and provides strategic advice to leaders of public and private real estate development and homebuilding companies throughout the U.S. Her unique approach places an emphasis on optimizing strategies for the development of best-in-class mixed-use and master planned communities. She is a seasoned industry expert with in-depth knowledge of industry drivers and disruptors and is accomplished at developing market responsive strategies that consistently meet or exceed financial goals and outperform competing projects in the marketplace. She presently serves on the Commercial/Retail (Silver) National Product Council with ULI and is an active member of the Women’s Housing Leadership Council and the International Council of Shopping Centers. Ford is a
sought-after guest speaker, panelist and moderator for key industry events.
Ford has acted as Senior Vice President-Division Manager for Newland Real Estate Group’s mid-Atlantic region where she managed a portfolio of mixed-use, planned community assets. She consistently met or exceeded business plan and financial goals year-over-year, built collaborative, high-performing teams and led the efforts to envision and produce communities that became top performing projects in their respective markets. She also served as VP of Sales and Marketing for Weyerhaeuser Real Estate Group where she transformed community design and segmentation approaches and introduced residual lot valuation and price participation practices for WRECO projects throughout the U.S.
Ford lives in North Carolina, by way of Seattle. She received an appointment to West Point and was a member of one of the first classes of women admitted into the military academy. She completed her degree at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington where she graduated Magna Cum
Laude with a Bachelors’ Degree in Business Administration.
Pierrette Tierney, Vice President of Business Development at Magleby Construction
After obtaining a Master’s Degree in Journalism from the University of Southern California (USC) and working at CNN’s London Bureau, Pierrette started helping a friend that worked at Pulte Homes set up college recruiting trips. In an unplanned chain of events, Pierrette ended up getting recruited herself and started a career in homebuilding with Pulte in Las Vegas as a Sales Associate. She quickly climbed the management ranks at Pulte and Taylor Morrison, most recently serving as Division President for
Taylor Morrison’s Bay Area operations.
In her career, she has overseen the development and implementation of over 100 master-plan, active adult, high-density and luxury home communities. In 2016, she and her husband, Matthew Magleby, decided to take their vast industry experience and put it to work for the family business at Magleby Construction, a professional custom construction firm with over 175 employees. She now
oversees business development, client pre-construction services, marketing, branding, and strategic growth opportunities for the expanding company. Pierrette also serves as 1 st Vice President for the Park City Homebuilder Association, and on the Board of Directors for Illuminate- an organization that works to accelerate the next generation of women business leaders through personal growth, training, and mentorship opportunities.
